A Member of the European Parliament (MEP), Klemen Grosel, the EP shadow rapporteur for Serbia representing the Renew Europe Group in the European Parliament, cautioned on Sept. 27 that “it’s unclear what happened in Kosovo last weekend, but it’s something neither Serbia nor Kosovo needed.”

“At any rate, if in the next few days it’s not clarified what has happened, it might have a negative effect on the very (negotiation) process and on both countries in the eyes of the international community, the European Union (EU) in the first place, Grosel said in the show “Half an Hour of Demostat,” released on Demostat’s You Tube channel.

“I believe that if the Kosovo issue has been resolved and a solution found that would be acceptable for Kosovo and Serbia alike, it would be much easier to resolve many other issues, whereas the Western Balkans could expect long-term stabilization. Only then could the genuine integration of the Western Balkans into the Union begin,” the MEP explained.

According to Grosel, what’s vital for the future of Serbian democracy is to “create a plural, independent media community, or rather, that independent media exist, sharing various political views and reporting on developments in the society.”
