Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic announced late on Sept. 27 that Serb Ticket vice president Milan Radoicic – whom the Kosovo authorities have accused of involvement in the Sept. 24 attack on Kosovo police in the village of Banjska – is uninjured and currently staying in central Serbia, where he will be questioned.
“He is a man who considers himself a freedom fighter, but there are questions he will need to answer,” Vucic told the RTS public service.
Vucic went on to say that, as president, he will never consider the Serbs who died in the Banjska shootout terrorists, adding that they were “family men with two, three children each.”
The president said that official Belgrade will request drone footage of the clash in which one police officer was killed. “That wasn’t planned,” he asserted, but emphasized that “there is no excuse for killing a police officer.”
Vucic denied the accusations of Kosovo officials according to which Belgrade was tied to the incident in any capacity.
He also dismissed claims that one of the fallen Serbs was once a bodyguard to Security and Information Agency Chief Aleksandar Vulin, explaining that this individual only served on Vulin’s security detail once, ten years ago.
