In a statement for the Oct. 11 edition of the Blic daily, German Ambassador to Serbia Anke Konrad described the current situation in Kosovo as “untenable” and called for a return to the dialogue, for the formation of the Community of Serb Municipalities and for local elections to be held in Kosovo municipalities with a majority Serb population.

“Right now it is important to us that the conditions for the continuation of the dialogue be met and that the agreements from Brussels from 2013 and from Brussels and Ohrid from this year be implemented – which, of course, includes the formation of the Community of Municipalities with a Serb Majority. Right now, de-escalation from both sides is crucial as is shedding light on the events in Banjska,” Konrad said, touching on the late-September clash between armed Serbs and Kosovo police.

The ambassador also stated that the EU’s member states support Serbia’s European path.
