Kurti Says Kosovo Facing Security Threats from Serbia

Kosovo Premier Albin Kurti said in Paris on Nov. 11 that Kosovo faced foreign security threats, especially from Serbia.

Speaking on the second day of the Paris Peace Forum, according to koha.net, he spoke about the attack in the village of Banjska, stressing that it was an excuse for the Serbian military to enter Kosovo. "Less than two months ago, we had this attack by a terrorist paramilitary group from Serbia in the north of our country. They killed a Kosovo police officer and wanted to cause a large-scale escalation to create total chaos as an excuse for the Serbian military to enter Kosovo," he said.

He added that Kosovo did not just face internal security threats, but external ones as well, and that this had to do with the current geopolitical times on the one hand, and with "our northern neighbor (Serbia) that doesn't recognize our country" on the other.

The Kosovo premier said Kosovo had only one option -- to join the European Union and NATO. "For the security of our country, we must deal with these groups that want to be like Wagner, that want to cause destabilization, and we must focus on the geopolitical situation in which we have no alternative, because we do not want to have an alternative to the EU and NATO. But there are countries that think and do otherwise," he said.
