The main state event marking Serbian Statehood Day (also the Presentation of Jesus in the Temple) took place late on Feb. 15 in Orasac, which was the site of the First Serbian Uprising on the same day in 1804, while on that day in 1835 the first modern Serbian constitution was enacted in Kragujevac.

After a church service held by the Bishop of Sumadija Jovan, Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic addressed those in attendance, saying that the "great message" of this historic date was "heroism whose only boundaries are wisdom and reason."

Statehood Day was also celebrated with fireworks that lasted several minutes in multiple cities in Serbia and Republika Srpska.

Vucic awarded medals to more than 100 deserving people and institutions, including numerous diplomats, academicians, medical doctors, athletes, actors, and musicians. Among the medal recipients are former Norwegian foreign minister and World Economic Forum President Borge Brende, the Russian president's advisor on culture, Vladimir Tolstoy, and former Montenegrin justice minister Marko Kovac.
