On Feb. 19, representatives of the oppositional Serbia Against Violence coalition expressed their satisfaction over the fact that the constitutive session of the capital’s assembly had to be postponed over insufficient attendance and announced they would coordinate with the public in an attempt to thwart the new Mach 1 session as well.
Dobrica Veselinovic and Vladimir Obradovic of the Serbia Against Violence ticket told the press that the regime committed fraud during the capital’s election and requested a repeat vote under new conditions.
Veselinovic deemed the day’s failed session a victory for the opposition and confirmation that everything his coalition has been doing is right. He was also satisfied, he said, that “despite various attempts,” no aldermen were “bought” i.e. persuaded to side with the regime.
