Green-Left Front party co-president Radomir Lazovic said on Feb. 19 that the Serbian parliament was on a "kind of forced hiatus" after the terms of the parliament members were confirmed on Feb. 6 based on the results of the December 2023 elections.

"What we see is that there are no representatives of the government at all in the Serbian parliament, barely anyone is appearing," Lazovic, whose Green-Left Front is part of the Serbia Against Violence coalition, told BETA.

The president of the ruling Serbian Progressive Party, Milos Vucevic, said earlier in the day that the inaugural session of the parliament would be scheduled "in the days and weeks ahead... when the political conditions are in place, when political agreement is reached."

"Obviously there was a political earthquake after the European Parliament adopted its resolution [on the December elections in Serbia] and [Serbian President Aleksandar] Vucic doesn't know what to do next, or rather, is laying the groundwork to get out of this crisis," he said.

Lazovic announced that the opposition was planning a visit to Paris and Brussels to meet not just with EP members but also representatives of the European Union executive authorities.

"We expect them to take a clear stand on the election fraud. We'll also speak with representatives of the EU executive authorities and we are expecting all that next week," Lazovic said.
