Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic offered to officially endorse the Serbian Progressive Party ticket in the repeat election for Belgrade’s local government by allowing the ticket to again bear his name.
“If you’d like, I’m willing to help you. If you’re not interested, I thank you for your support so far,” Vucic told his party’s Belgrade chapter at a meeting held at the Sumice Center in Vozdovac on March 3.
Vucic, who stepped down as the party’s leader in May of last year, called on the Progressives’ leadership to enter the coming election “in as wide an alliance as possible” even if that ends up costing them “a vote or two.”
He also urged his fellow party members to seek “the best possible solution” for Serbia because the situation in the entire world will, in his opinion, only get “harder and worse.”
