The president of the Serbian Progressive Party, Milos Vucevic, stated on March 4 that his party would discuss nominations for the post of prime minister-designate with coalition partners first, and then reveal the choice.
After consultations with the Serbian president, Vucevic said the Progressives had mustered a clear majority, enabling the party to form a new government alone, but that talks would be held nevertheless with the Socialist Party of Serbia, the Alliance of Vojvodina’s Hungarians and some minority parties.
"Our ticket holds a majority on its own, but it’s not math we are concerned with – it’s politics. We need to know who would join the new government platform. Today's meeting the president was not about personnel choices, but rather the new program ‘Leap into the Future’, EXPO 2027 and a series of infrastructure projects, the fight for Kosovo and Metohija, peace in the region, salary and pension increases, investment in culture and sports – which, put together, create the pillar of the government policy for the next four years," Vucevic said.
Vucevic also said he hoped that Serbia would be able and strong enough to meet the ODIHR recommendations in the next elections, but dismissed the idea of an international investigation into the allegations of election fraud in Serbia.
