Vucic Arrives in New York to Attend April 22 u.n. Session on Situation in Kosovo

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has arrived in New York where he is expected to engage in five days of intense diplomatic activity with regard to two topics -- the U.N. secretary general's six-month report on the situation in Kosovo and a proposed resolution on genocide in Srebrenica, the Serbian Broadcasting Corporation reported on April 21.

The U.N. Security Council will hold a session on April 22 where it will consider the U.N. secretary general's report on the work of the U.N. Mission in Kosovo from Sept. 19, 2023 to March 15, 2024. Vucic said earlier that the report that would be presented did not show the true circumstances on the ground and poorly reflected the actual situation.

The outline of the resolution on Srebrenica will be up for a vote before the U.N. General Assembly on May 2, the Serbian Broadcasting Corporation said. While in New York, the Serbian president will meet with several dozen representatives of U.N. member countries and with the representatives of standing members of the U.N. Security Council. The purpose of the meetings is to clarify Serbia's stance on the proposed resolution.
