United Group announced on June 25 that it would file lawsuits in Serbia and the EU to stop a campaign and "illegal steps by the Serbian authorities" toward the company to "protect itself from unsubstantiated attacks and prevent the further infliction of harm on the company."

United Group said that the "attacks by the authorities in Serbia have the purpose of causing business damages to the company because of [its] objective media outlets," warning that "each day the highest representatives of the authorities threaten the owners and employees of the company through the media which they control."

"The authorities in Serbia have only one target, and that is the United Group. The hunt that Serbian state officials are leading against a private company, which is at the same time one of the leading foreign investors in Serbia is unprecedented in Europe. The entire state machinery has been mobilized only to stop the citizens of Serbia from being objectively informed," a statement said.

It said that the "public lynch" was organized "exclusively because the N1 and Nova S TV channels, which abide by professional standards operate as a part of United Group."
