KFOR spokesman Vincenzo Grasso has said that, according to the knowledge of the NATO-led international peacekeeping force, there is no risk of North Kosovo being hit by a humanitarian crisis. The Serbian authorities and Kosovo Serb representatives have reported shortages of food and other consumer goods resulting from Pristina tariffs on the goods coming from Serbia, stressing that the situation could trigger a humanitarian disaster. For its part, the Pristina authorities have denied such reports.
Commenting on KFOR helicopters flying over some parts of North Kosovo in the evening on June 25, Grasso has told Belgrade daily Politika that “night flying” is part of regular helicopter training of new crew members, who have recently joined the force. He also said that the situation was peaceful and under control, noting that “nothing unexpected can happen and KFOR continues to maintain relations and communication with all relevant institutions in Kosovo and Serbia.”
