The general secretary of the OSCE, Thomas Greminger, stated in Belgrade on Oct. 9 that there was a possibility for improving the conditions for the forthcoming elections in Serbia, announcing that a mission would be sent to assess the conditions in November.
Greminger said at a news conference that the mission in November would assess what sort of mission should be sent to monitor the election process, and that its composition would be known in December.
He added that he did not wish to speculate about what sort of mission the OSCE would opt for but that, if he had to respond, he would say that he expected a "full mission." He neither wished to comment on the current state of election conditions in Serbia, adding that not all the recommendations of OSCE's Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) had been fulfilled.
Greminger met on Oct. 9 with representatives of the authorities, including President Aleksandar Vucic and Prime Minister Ana Brnabic, and of the civil society. He is to meet with the opposition and with Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic on Oct. 10.
