At the ceremonial presentation of the letters of credence of new ambassadors to Russia, including the ambassador of Serbia, Miroslav Lazanski, Putin recollected the "substantial meeting" in Sochi at the end of last year, with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic.
"A number of agreements were reached, regarding cooperation between Russia and Serbia in the fields of economy, trade, energy, culture, coordination regarding regional issues," Putin said in the Kremlin.
Russia and Serbia are bound by strategic partnership, which relies on the tradition of friendship, cultural, spiritual and historical closeness of the peoples, Putin said, adding that "Russia is doing a lot for the situation in the Balkans to remain stable and safe."
"We advocate the reaching of a solution to the Kosovo problem that would be functional and mutually acceptable, on the basis of Resolution 1244 of the U.N. Security Council," the Russian president stated.
