Russian Ambassador to Serbia Alexander Botsan-Kharchenko said in Belgrade on Feb. 25 that military cooperation between the two countries contributed to preserving Serbia's independence and that their strategic partnership was "rising fast."
"The development of military and military technical cooperation between Serbia and Russia, under the supervision of the two countries' presidents, is directed at maintaining Serbia's independence, allowing it to chose its own fate and be in a stable region," Botsan-Kharchenko said at a Russian state Defenders of the Fatherland Day reception.
Botsan-Kharchenko said that last week's talks between Russian Minister of Defense Sergey Shoygu and Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Minister of Defense Aleksandar Vulin in Belgrade had given a new incentive for cooperation between the two countries.
He said that it was Russia's great honor that the Serbian President would mark the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow on May 9.
