Croatia Airlines

Croatian Minister of Maritime Affairs, Transportation and Infrastructure Oleg Butkovic has said that the government will resume the process of privatizing Croatia Airlines after the coronavirus crisis has passed. He pointed out, however, that the government would help the national air carrier, the EX-YU Aviation website reports.

“At the start of the year we had two companies interested in Croatia Airlines and the process was going well. We were gearing up to enter the second phase of negotiations, which envisages the finalization of details. However, the coronavirus arrived and everything was halted because the aviation industry is severely affected by the consequences of the pandemic,” said Butkovic.

“When the situation starts to normalize and improve, we will continue to look for a strategic partner,” he added. The Croatian government had previously set June 2020 as the deadline for privatizing Croatia Airlines. At the time, Greek Aegean Airlines and Spanish Air Nostrum showed an interest in Croatia’s flag carrier, the portal reports.
