The drafts of the Public Information and Media Act and the Electronic Media Act – whose adoption will allow the state to again legally and officially own media outlets via Telekom Srbija – are on the agenda for the first sitting of the Serbian National Assembly’s fall session, which commences on Oct. 23.

The 60 agenda items also include the bill on Serbia’s 2024 budget as well as the drafts of laws concerning the land registry, a lex specialis regarding the 2027 Expo and a set of financial laws.

The sitting was scheduled only a day in advance, which effectually prevented MPs from proposing amendments to the bills that are to be discussed.

The meeting is supposed to be the first and last of the parliament’s fall session, since a snap parliamentary election has been announced for Dec. 17, 2023.
