One person has died from the novel coronavirus in the past 24 hours, bringing the total death toll to 231.

According to the May 18 report posted on the Ministry of Health website, over the last 24 hours 4,113 people have been tested, of whom 89 were positive. There are 805 patients in hospitals, of whom 16 are on ventilators. The number of those who have recovered from the disease is 4,799, while the death rate is 2.17%.

Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic said that she had scheduled a meeting of the Crisis Headquarters for fighting COVID-19 for May 19, to discuss whether anything needed to be done about the rise in the number of cases in Vranje.

Touring the Science and Technology Park Belgrade, Brnabic said that despite the increase in the number of infection cases in Vranje "the situation is still under control." "We are not planning any new measures right now, but I have to point out once again that the crisis is not over. We have come out of the worst time and we can live more or less normally, but we still have to wear masks and be mindful of distance," said the prime minister.
