Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic stated on Jan. 14 that 17,000 people have applied for vaccination against the coronavirus via the call-center since its opening in the morning, and assessed that around 80 percent of Serbian citizens would be vaccinated.

"An important message for the people of Serbia – more than 17,000 people have applied for vaccination since the launch of the call-center on Jan. 14," Vucic told reporters on Mount Zlatibor, where he attended the opening of the cable-lift.

He said that he and his family would take any of the available vaccines, and urged the population to take the jab.

Vucic also stated that the verdict for him to pay RSD200,000 to the leader of the Dveri (Doors) Movement, Bosko Obradovic, for slander, was proof that the politicians and media, which claim that Serbia's judiciary was not independent and run by political centers, were wrong.
