People’s Party vice president Zdravko Ponos on Feb. 2 said that the main trait of “the privatized foreign policy” conducted by President Aleksandar Vuicic was to give away national resources and non-transparently award projects in Serbia to powerful players, while in exchange seeking from the West to turn a blind eye on the autocratic rule and to pardon delays in fulfilling the commitments.

Commenting on Vucic’s visit to France, Ponos said that Vucic had been constantly awarding projects to French companies, such as the airport (Belgrade international Airport Nikola Tesla) and the Waste Management Complex Vinca.

“In a condescending, colonial, not to say vassal manner, he literally says that the Belgrade Metro project is the key element of Serbian-French cooperation,” Ponos told Belgrade daily Danas, according to a release from the People’s Party.

According to him, in return, Serbia will get a promise, probably it will open some EU negotiating chapters, although this regime has made “no progress” over the past few years in the key area, the rule of law.
