Democratic Party president Zoran Lutovac said on Feb. 25 that when an entire government was involved in crime there could be no crackdown on organized crime, but only confrontations within organized crime.

In an interview with BETA, Lutovac said that the Serbian authorities needed to crack down on people connected to crime in their own ranks.

Asked for his opinion on why no representative of the government had been arrested for cooperation with Veljko Belivuk's crime group, Lutovac said that what the public was seeing was a conflict inside of the political wing of organized crime.

"For lack of information the logical conclusion is: no one from the government has been arrested because this is a conflict inside the political wing of organized crime and they both have something on each other," said Lutovac.
