Former Serbian President: Vucic’s Press Conference Pinnacle of Political Pathology

Boris Tadic, a former president of Serbia, has called incumbent president Aleksandar Vucic’s press conference, during which images of mutilated bodies were shown, a pinnacle of “bizarreness and political pathology Serbia has been pushed into after 2012.”

“Showing massacred bodies, thus violating the human rights of both the victims and their families, and doing so despite the explicit pleas of the potential victims’ family members, is something we cannot envision happening in a normal country,” Tadic said for the March 8 issue of the Danas daily.

According to Tadic, neither the president and his closest associates, nor the prime minister, Ana Brnabic, ever lifted a finger or said anything when Veljko Belivuk’s crime organization, a renegade group of Serbian Progressive Party’s hired thugs, as the former president described them, had kidnapped and abused their criminal rivals and showed it all on social media.

“In a normal country, all of them, as the leaders of this state, would have had to immediately hand in their resignations, instead of boasting that they are in the midst of a war against organized crime, when in fact we’re witnessing a showdown inside their own ranks,” Tadic said.

The images that Vucic had shown, according to Tadic, are not “just pictures of crimes [committed] by criminal groups, but of Serbia under Vucic’s rule.”
