Six people died from the consequences of the coronavirus infection in Serbia in the past 24 hours, raising the total number of fatalities to 7,183, it was announced on the covid19.rs portal on Aug. 18.

There were 1,497 new infections among the 12,818 tested people. 894 people are currently being treated in hospitals, 30 of them on ventilators.

A member of the government’s Crisis Headquarters for fighting the infection, Branislav Tiodorovic, stated on Aug. 18 that, despite the increase in the number of infections, movement would not be limited, nor would there be a curfew.

Tiodorovic told Television Prva that more than 92 percent of the people who are treated for the disease in hospitals had not been vaccinated, and once again appealed on all people to take the jab. He urged everyone to adhere to the anti-epidemic measures that have not been abolished and recollected that these included the wearing of protective masks, keeping one’s distance, disinfection and hygiene.
