The leader of the Serbian Union of Physicians and Pharmacists, Dr Rade Panic, a member of the United against Covid-19, a group of medical professionals criticizing the government's response to the pandemic, said he was supporting an initiative that Covid green passes be introduced, but was sceptical about their validity.

"The omnipresence of corruption in Serbia is usually based on political ties, and I'm afraid that people who neither had Covid nor have been vaccinated can get the certificate," Panic warned in an interview with the Danas newspaper, published on Sept. 13.

Dr Panic explained that "they can come, infected, to a place where restrictions are loose and people are relaxed, thinking that they are safe." He said that "the government has launched the issue repeatedly, but has never used the measure."

"It seems to me that the purpose of the initiative is to motivate people to get a vaccine, rather than to actually materialise it," Panic said.
