Mirsad Djerlek, the state secretary of the Serbian Ministry of Health, said on Nov. 24 that about 53,000 Serbian citizens have acquired "green digital [COVID] certificates that are compliant with European Union standards."

Djerlek told the RTS public service that such statistics indicate the people's desire to both travel and enjoy the advantages of immunization against Covid-19. He also announced that, "in about five days," citizens will be able to get such green passes at their local post office.

The secretary further stated that the previous format of green passes -- valid only within the country and necessary to access food and drink establishments -- was downloaded by 2.16 million people. "Citizens are showing how responsible they have been and are taking advantage of the benefits of vaccination," Djerlek concluded.

According to him, about 3.3 million people in Serbia received the first dose of a Covid vaccine, 3.1 million took a second dose, and a third dose was received by about 1.4 million Serbian citizens.
