A deputy prime minister and Kosovo’s chief negotiator for talks with Serbia, Besnik Bislimi, said on Jan. 7 that the Government of Kosovo was prepared to continue the dialogue process with Serbia, which “will end in mutual recognition.”

Bislimi said that the Government of Kosovo had already gotten this across to its allies in meetings. “Our approach is completely open and constructive, but it is based on the principles that create the basis for the North Atlantic Treaty Organization's (NATO) foreign policy,” Bislimi told Radio Free Europe.

The Kosovo cabinet said that the European Union (EU), which is mediating the dialogue, had maintained a minimum of neutrality in the process.

“The Government of Kosovo expects the EU to maintain a framework for the talks based on the values of its founding treaties, and an approach promoting regional safety in the Western Balkans in line with the expectations of the Alliance as to the protection of the region against Russian and Chinese influence,” Bislimi said.
