Speaking in Belgrade on May 5, German Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht welcomed "the clear positioning" of Serbia towards Russia's war in Ukraine and the territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina, but stressed that progress in the normalization of relations with Pristina was also needed in the process of accession to the EU.

Lambrecht stated at the news conference after her meeting with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic that Serbia had clearly positioned itself in the U.N. on the value of peace, freedom and territorial integrity, adding that these values were important in the context of Serbia's joining the EU.

"We welcomed Serbia's clear stance on the brutal offensive war against Ukraine, Serbia has undoubtedly called it (in the U.N.) a war that violated international law. Serbia did not hide, but made a clear statement and we welcome that. In the process of EU admission, we also expect momentum in the normalization of relations with Kosovo, that is necessary on the European path," Lambrecht stated. She also said that it was important not to undermine the territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina "and not to support such tendencies."
