The member countries of the group of seven most industrially developed countries, G7, have lauded Albania, Kosovo, Montenegro and North Macedonia for fully aligning their foreign policies with the EU's, including sanctions and their application, and called on Serbia to do follow suit.

The G7 foreign ministers urged Kosovo and Serbia to constructively engage in the EU-mediated dialogue, to fully implement all previous agreements without delay and to normalize relations through a comprehensive and binding agreement, a press release posted on the German Foreign Ministry's website after the meeting in Germany on May 14 said.

According to the release, that would allow for the realization of their European aspirations, contribute to regional stability and benefit all people in the region. The ministers also welcomed progress in inclusive regional cooperation and energy transition, especially through the Common Regional Market and the Green Agenda for the Western Balkans, as part of the Berlin Process.

They hailed the fact that the Western Balkans were united in condemning Russia's aggression against Ukraine, particularly in the U.N. General Assembly. The ministers applauded Bosnia and Herzegovina's harmonization with the EU's restrictive measures toward Russia and Kosovo's alignment with these measures.
