Boris Tadic, the opposition Social Democratic Party leader and the former Serbian president, has said that President Aleksandar Vucic should step down and accept accountability for the fact that Serbia has turned into a criminal state due to his bad government appointments.

“By exchanging accusations, Nebojsa Stefanovic (the incumbent defense minister and the former interior minister) and the former state secretary at the Interior Ministry, Dijana Hrkalovic, have actually and primarily accused Vucic as they are his closest associates and the mirror of his regime. Vucic would have to resign and take political accountability for such bad appointments and these two are no exception, but rather the rule applied for years,” Tadic has told Belgrade daily Nova.

Tadic has also said that he, as a man being accused of bad government appointments during his presidential term, has the right to call Vucic to account.

“In any normal state, the government would resign over this affair and the president would step down rather than play the victim,” Tadic said commenting on phone tapping of Vucic.
