Members of the European Parliament (EP) Vladmir Bilcik and Matjaz Nemec said after a two-day visit to Belgrade on Sept. 30 that they were “encouraged by the constructive approach” that they saw during a meeting with Serbian MPs, the EU Info Center reported.

The European parliamentarians, who are the mediators in an inter-party dialogue in the Parliament of Serbia, visited Belgrade to explore new opportunities for the process to continue. “We have arrived in Belgrade at a crucial time for Serbia’s future in Europe, which is also a time of big challenges for the international community. That’s why we are encouraged by the constructive approach that we noted during our meetings with political groups in the Parliament of Serbia,” Bilcik and Nemec said.

The two MEPs also welcomed the commitment to Serbia’s EU accession that the Serbian MPs demonstrated during the meetings, underlining that their organization was prepared to work with the Parliament of Serbia to build a strong institution prepared to come to grips with challenges related to Serbia’s accession to the European Union.

Bilcik and Nemec also met with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Prime Minister Ana Brnabic to discuss, as they said, “a broader political context, particularly EU enlargement.”
