Belgrade Mayor Aleksandar Sapic said on Wednesday, Jan. 11, that the city has decided to allow the floating river clubs and cafes only on the Sava Quay, in New Belgrade, and in Zemun, on the Danube, on the stretch across from the Great War island, while “there won’t be thing between the Branko’s Bridge and the Usce [park].”
Sapic told Happy TV that, this February, the city will bring electricity and water to those designated areas, adding that as of Mart or April, he expects “any tenant who bid [to] be able to dock their rafts [on the Sava quay].”
The floating venues that have so far been operating along the Sava river, he said, had had only the Belgrade river authorities’ permissions to “float and sail the river” but not to dock. None of them paid any rent nor have they officially been connected to either the power grid or the city water-supplying and sewer network, he further added.
The “terms and conditions will be clearly defined,” the public will know the future designated area, and the distance between the vessels will be 15 m, which has not been the case before, the Belgarde mayor assured.
