Kosovo as a 'Frozen Conflict' - The serbian right's idea without wider support

The Serbian government's Office for Kosovo and Metohija said in a press release on Jan. 23 that members of Kosovo's ROSU special police units had opened fire on a vehicle with two Serbs and seriously wounded the driver.

The driver Miljan Delevic was urgently transported to a hospital in Kraljevo after sustaining a through-and-through gunshot wound to the left side of his rib cage. The passenger Dusan S. was unharmed, though the vehicle was riddled with bullet holes.

N1 TV reported that the wounded man's injury was major, but that his condition was stable and that his life was not in danger.

According to a press release from the Office, the shooting happened near an illegal checkpoint at the Bistrica Bridge, along the Kosovska Mitrovica-Leposavic motorway.

The Kosovo police said in a press release that its officers had fired on the vehicle in self-defense and that the automobile with the two Serbs had not stopped at the checkpoint, but rammed the police vehicle. The police statement stated that this directly threatened the lives of the police officers who fired to "neutralize the danger."

The Serb Ticket has called for the urgent withdrawal of the members of Kosovo police's Regional Operational Support Unit and for the arrest and sanctioning of the shooters, stating that "the attack is mere continuation of the Pristina regime's anti-Serb hysteria."
