U.S. Official Urges Kosovo Premier To Accept Draft on Normalization With Belgrade

The counselor of the U.S. Department of State, Derek Chollet, urged Kosovo on Jan. 25 to accept the European proposal on the normalizatoin of relations with Belgrade.

"Spoke with PM @albinkurti today to discuss the EU proposal on normalization of relations with Serbia and to urge Kosovo to accept it," Chollet tweeted. He added that the key topic of the talks was partnership between the U.S. and Kosovo and the shared goal of advancing Kosovo’s European and Euro-Atlantic integration.

Chollet said that he and Kurti also discussed the importance of a multi-ethnic character of Kosovo and progress in talks on the forming of the Community of Serb Municipalities. "We also discussed moving forward with discussions of the Association of Serb Majority Municipalities in the context of the Dialogue, and the need for Kosovo Serb officials to return to their posts," Chollet stated in the post.
