The European Commission had signed and submitted to Bosnia and Herzegovina for adoption the Financing Agreement for Energy Support Package worth EUR70 million, the EU Delegation to Bosnia and Herzegovina said on Feb. 7.
Out of EUR70 million, EUR50 million is intended for alleviating the effects of high prices and the most vulnerable families should receive financial assistance through social protection institutions.
A total of EUR10 million is set aside for improving energy efficiency of 4,000 residential buildings, while another EUR10 million will go to some 400 micro, small and medium-sized enterprises facing challenges amid the energy crisis.
The Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina needs to adopt and sign the agreement for the country to receive the first portion of around EUR63 million. Before the payment, Bosnia and Herzegovina needs to get a positive assessment from the European Commission on the country’s progress in implementing the Action Plan, which contains the measures the government needs to implement to access the funds from the energy support package and ensure energy transition.
