EU Delegation in Serbia Head Emanuele Giaufret has said that it is important that a meeting of Belgrade's and Pristina's negotiating teams in Brussels on April 4 is being held only several days after the European proposal was accepted.

A meeting of the heads of Belgrade's and Pristina's negotiating teams, Petar Petkovic and Besnik Bislimi, respectively, on implementing the Ohrid agreement is being held on the technical level in Brussels. The subjects will be energy and missing persons.

Giaufret told Serbian state TV that the essences was to compose a list of the obligations that must implemented swiftly. Asked whether the Community of Serb Municipalities would be the subject of the meeting, Giaufret said that that was one important aspect of the negotiations and that the EU would like this to be both discussed and implemented.

Asked whether the application of the agreements in Brussels and Ohrid was a condition or shortcut for Serbia on its road to the EU, Giaufret pointed out that this was not a new condition. "There is chapter 35 which pertains to this question and we now need to update this chapter: to include the new obligations that the two sides accepted in Ohrid and Brussels. This is an opportunity, I am sure, for Serbia because the sooner we begin implementing these obligations, the sooner Serbia will get closer to the EU," Giaufret stressed.
