People's Party vice-president Sinisa Kovacevic has said that he resigned as chairman of the parliamentary Committee on Culture and Information due to what is known in political theory as "the terror of the majority" since his first day in office.
"Everything was turned into a space for arguments and the mistreatment of opposition MPs in every way. There were the most brutal possible insults the denial of quality proposals free of all partisan elements," Kovacevic, a dramatist and director told the June 1 edition of the Nova newspaper.
He stressed that "simply speaking the terror of the majority would take everything off of the agenda" and "this was already a sign that simply nothing could be done." "Then came a hail of primitivism and for instance one of the majority's MPs addressed another MP with the words: 'Get out you drunkard.' This was simply a space that I did not feel comfortable in and a situation that I am not accustomed to," Kovacevic said.
