The West had been more than ever before united in reprehension of unilateral and violent actions of Kosovo Premier Albin Kurti, but some concrete measures were also required,, the head of the Serbian Government’s Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Petar Petkovic, said on June 28.

Speaking to state public broadcaster RTS, Petkovic said that Kurti had been for the first time reprimanded by the Western countries which “are the mentors of Kosovo’s independence.”

“But, we are fed up with all those statements, reports and oral condemnations. Only when we see concrete moves and measures in place, which have been announced by the EU and the U.S., we can be assured that they aim to restrain Albin Kurt’s intention to set the entire Western Balkans on fire,” Petkovic said.

Asked why the memorial service traditionally held on Saint Vitus Day, June 28, [the date of the 1389 Kosovo Battle], would not be held at Gazimestan [the memorial site and monument commemorating the Kosovo Battle near Pristina] on June 28, but in the Gracanica Monastery, Petkovic replied that such decision well depicted the grave position of the Serbs living in Kosovo and Metohija today.

“The Serbian Orthodox Church did not wish to take any risk and wished to prevent mistreatment and arrests of our people,” Petkovic specified.
