Vucic Tells Macron: Belgrade Expecting Support on its EU Path, in Dialogue with Pristina

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic on April 9 said that the April 8 meeting with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron held in Paris, focusing on the issue of Kosovo and Metohija and the announced resolution on Srebrenica, was not easy, but that he was thankful that Macron had taken the time to talk to him.

“I think that we managed to explain the position of Serbia,” Vucic told reporters of Serbian media outlets, declining to disclose details of the talks in relation to Paris’ position on Kosovo’s application for membership in the Council of Europe (CoE).

After meeting Macron, Vucic has published a post on his Instagram, saying he is expecting from France to support Serbia in all domains, primarily on Belgrade’s EU path and in the Dialogue with Pristina. He has also thanked his French counterpart on his personal engagement in efforts to preserve stability in the Western Balkans.

However, addressing a joint news conference prior to a dinner and a tête-à-tête meeting, Vucic denied Macron’s statement that Belgrade and Pristina “have done a bit,” stressing that the Pristina authorities had done nothing.
