The vice-president of the Freedom and Justice Party, Marinika Tepic, assessed on Apr. 10 that the forthcoming local election in Belgrade was “not real” and wondered: “Has anyone ever seen election laws being amended after the election has been scheduled?”
“On Apr. 1, Assembly Speaker Ana Brnabic initiated the ’dialogue’ with the opposition about electoral conditions/recommendations of ODIHR. We said – all right, please honor the three basic principles and all the recommendations and we will work day and night to implement that before the scheduling of the election,” Tepic wrote in a post on X.
“Brnabic refused and then scheduled the election on Apr. 3, for June 2. On Apr. 7, the ruling party registered the ticket and, on Apr. 8, Brnabic presented (to the parliament) the amendments to the five laws on the (now scheduled) elections,” Tepic went on to say.
