Out of 36 Complaints from Nis Opposition, City Election Commission Partially Accepts Six

Out of 36 complaints referring to voting materials, filed by opposition representatives, the City Election Commission in Nis rejected or dismissed 29, and partially accepted six, having also decided to suspend proceedings in response to one complaint.

Most of the opposition's complaints were dismissed as unclear, and fewer as unfounded.

The City Election Commission in Nis adopted on June 9 a second decision on the preliminary results of the election of councilors to the Nis City Assembly, which does not differ from the decision on the preliminary results made on June 3. According to these results, a coalition rallied around the Serbian Progressive Party won 30 seats in the city parliament, the Russian Party one, and the opposition ticket gained a total of 30 seats.

The City Election Commission in Novi Sad rejected 68 opposition complaints and requests for a repeat vote in that city, mainly stating a lack of evidence.

The rejected opposition complaints referred to the Serbian Progressive Party's call center at the Novi Sad Fair, influence the Party exerted on public sector employees, vote buying, and photographing ballots.

The movement Get Going for Change said it was "expected" that none of the opposition complaints filed to Belgrade’s City Election Commission would be accepted. The movement added that the Commission ruled that that numerous irregularities pointed out by members of polling boards and voters were not within the jurisdiction of the Commission, but other state bodies.
