Back in 2012, the Public Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime had suspected that Predrag Koluvija had been the boss of a criminal gang cultivating cannabis in the Belgrade neighborhood Karaburma, investigative portal KRIK (Crime and Corruption Reporting Network) reported on June 25.

Back then, the police seized around 300 kilograms of drugs, grown in a laboratory, tucked in basements of several houses in the Mirijevski Bulevar Street in Karaburma, according to a document of the Prosecutor’s Office which KRIK has published.

However, Koluvija was not charged at the time, but rather his close friend was identified as the operation boss.

Koluvija is currently standing trial for 1.6 tons of marijuana found on the land owned by his company Jovanjica, while media and opposition claim that this is a case of organized drug cultivation and production, also involving same segments of state apparatus.

Following the publishing of this article, Koluvija has threatened to sue KRIK.
