Serbian Defense Minster Bratislav Gasic said on July 5 that Serbia would keep investing in new weapons and training for its soldiers, as this ensured the protection of the state and people.
Speaking during a celebration in Serbian parliament marking the graduation of students of the Security and General Staff Development College, the minister said it would make him the happiest man on earth if he could guarantee to the new graduates they would never need to use their knowledge, but unfortunately no one in the world could guarantee that.
“Today’s Europe is in a state of uncertainty, which was unimaginable before. We can hear messages suggesting crises and wars, many states have expanded their military budgets and are preparing for long-lasting conflicts,” Gasic said.
The minister reiterated that Serbia was firmly committed to military neutrality and wished for good and mutually beneficial relations with all countries, but it could not rely on membership in military alliances, but only on its own forces, and unity between its army and the people.
