Japan’s Foreign Minister Yoko Kamikawa said during a July 19 meeting in Pristina with Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti that peace and stability were crucial for Europe.

Minister Kamikawa said that the purpose of her first visit to Kosovo was to contribute to peace and stability on the European continent. The Office of the Prime Minister of Kosovo said in a press release that Kosovo’s relationship with Serbia and their EU-mediated talks on normalization were also discussed during the meeting.

“Prime Minister Kurti and Minister Kamikawa talked about regional issues as well, including the relationship with Serbia and the Dialogue, and the prime minister said that the Agreement on the path to normalization between Kosovo and Serbia existed, but that Serbia had been violating it openly and continuously since the beginning,” the Office quoted the prime minister as saying.

The Japanese foreign minister’s visit to Kosovo coincided with this year’s 15th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. During the meeting the two officials also discussed opportunities to strengthen bilateral ties.
