Serbian Foreign Minister Marko Djuric said on Aug. 21 that "someone must be held accountable" for the terrorist threats sent to Serbia’s embassies in Austria and Germany, and later to the Serbian embassy in Bern.
"Our institutions are in contact with those countries, and our consular offices and citizens are safe," Djuric said in an interview with the state public service RTS. He underlined that, in addition to the individual "they have chosen to make these threats," those "whose policies lead to extremism being introduced as a method of political pressure" should also be held accountable.
"Terrorism has always been a reflection of powerlessness and of the awareness that the ground is slipping from under their feet. This will neither intimidate us nor prevent us from carrying out our duties. We will not retreat in the face of terror; on the contrary, we will unite," Djuric stated.
Djuric, who was also a former director of the Serbian government’s Office for Kosovo and Metohija, added that "every Serbian embassy and consulate will be a small office for Kosovo and Metohija," in reference to representing the state's policy on that issue.
