Every day, about 200 refugees from Syria, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Turkey try to pass into Hungary from the forests surrounding Subotica, Serbia’s Asylum Protection Center stated on Oct. 2.
According to a Center post on X, said migrants also include families with children, most of them Kurdish.
“A channel of migration and people smuggling toward the EU is again active in Serbia,” the Center warned.
Earlier this year, Serbia’s Commissariat for Refugees and Migration announced that the influx of migrants into the country had dropped 80 percent compared to 2023 and that the number of people housed in reception centers was reduced by 450.
