Another rally against the government’s plans to allow the opening of a lithium mine in the Jadar River valley will be held in the afternoon of Oct. 16 in Loznica, the Association of Environmental Organizations of Serbia (SEOS) has announced.
According to the press release, the gathering will, in addition to the general public and environmentalists, be attended by representatives of all oppositional parties and movements.
Thus far, over 50 cities and towns across the country have rallied against lithium mining, including Loznica, Belgrade, Leskovac, Cacak, Nis, Vranje, Valjevo, Kraljevo and Sabac.
The protests have also been supported by all opposition parties and movements, as well as numerous public figures, artists, university professors and representatives of the Serbian Orthodox Church.
