The situation in the region, current state of affairs in Kosovo as well as ways to further cooperation between Serbia and the U.S. in a number of areas were topics Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic recently discussed with U.S. and EU officials, Vucic announced in an Oct. 20 evening post on his official Facebook page.

Vucic wrote that he had met with U.S. State Department Assistant Secretary for European and Eurasian Affairs James O’Brien and EU External Action Service Managing Director for Europe and Central Asia Angelina Eichhorst, with whom he exchanged opinions on “Serbia’s role in the Western Balkans and Europe.”

The Serbian president also took the opportunity to provide a detailed account of the ongoing situation in Kosovo and to express his deep concern over the challenges Kosovo Serbs face daily.

According to the post, Vucic further underlined the need for increased U.S. involvement in the issue of Kosovo and Metohija, given that “stronger support and more active participation from the U.S. could contribute to stability and security in the region.”
