Serbia’s Chamber of Commerce will co-found and participate in the new International Land-Sea Trade Corridor, an alliance of CoCs connecting China with Southeast Asia and Europe, Serbian CoC President Marko Cadez announced on Oct. 21.
At the invitation of the president of China’s National Chamber of Commerce, Cadez will participate in the founding ceremony for the alliance, which will comprise 20 national chambers of industry and commerce along the Belt and Road route, linking China and Europe.
“This is very important to us because it allows easier access to markets we haven’t been able to reach easily, such as the Philippines, Kazakhstan, Indonesia… It will provide new business for [Serbian] companies,” Cadez told the RTS public service.
Cadez added that China is one of Serbia’s most important foreign trade partners and a political friend. Good relations with China, he said, are significant not only because of trade, but also for cooperation in the areas of high technology, electric vehicles, batteries, renewable energy sources and new materials.
The CoC president also recalled that the Free Trade Agreement with China allows Serbia to sell over 10 thousand products on the Chinese market, and stressed that joining the Land-See Trade Corridor will make transport and logistics for domestic businesses even easier and cheaper, furthering exports to such a huge market.
