Asylum and reception centers operated by Serbia’s Commissariat for Refugees and Migration are currently housing 477 persons, which is 80 percent less than in 2023, the Commissariat has announced.

According to the press release, Commissariat head Natasa Stanisavljevic recently participated in an annual conference organized by the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) and took the opportunity to present the migration situation in Serbia to ICMPD Director General Michael Spindelegger.

The meeting between Stanisavljevic and Spindelegger was also attended by ICMPD Special Envoy for the Western Balkans Melita Gruevska-Graham.

The Commissariat statement further explained that the 2024 ICMPD conference gathered over 250 officials, decision makers and practitioners from different countries, focusing on key topics which will shape Europe’s migration agenda for the next five years.
