Contrary to earlier reports from Hungarian media outlets, the migrants who are trying to enter Hungarian territory from Serbia did not use firearms at the border, the Hungarian police stated on Oct. 25.

According to the statement, the shots were heard "from a shooting range in Serbia" near the state border, close to the village of Asotthalom.

"The shots were not connected with the migrants' activities, rather they happened during practice at a shooting range in Serbia, which took place on Oct. 24 and 25. Everything is functioning smoothly, and the migrants did not head toward Hungarian territory," said the Hungarian police.
